And now, a word from The Shakespeare Shoppe:

Yep, it’s true – The Shakespeare Shoppe now has it’s very own web TV series, called The Shakespeare Shoppe Product Web Series! (Yes, okay, we know, not that inventive, but we didn’t say we emulated Shakespeare – just that we like him.  Oh, okay, we’ll work on the title and get back to you …)

The idea of this new web series is to present the various products available for purchase at The Shakespeare Shoppe.  All episodes are presented by Head Designer, Sally McLean – but we’re working on getting some special guests in on the gig as well … stay tuned.

Episode 1 covers the oversize office leather handbags currently available from The Shakespeare Shoppe on Ebay (which you’ll find here).

Feel free to leave any comments or feedback and we’ll see you in Episode 2!  (okay, with a better title … we’ll keep working on that …)

More updates coming soon …

It’s official – Sally is now a recording artist – well, kinda …

Breathe: relaxation exercises for actors by Sally McLean

Cover art for Breathe: relaxation exercises for actors by Sally McLean now available on Amazon.com

Yes, it’s finally happened.  Incognita Enterprises’ Creative Director, Sally McLean is now a recording artist.  Not as a singer (that may yet come, but not right now), no, Sally has just released her first EP – “Breathe: relaxation exercises for actors” which is now available as a hard copy CD or MP3 download at Amazon.com, published by Incognita Enterprises.

The collection of three relaxation exercises (there are four tracks available – including the introduction) were used regularly by Sally during her days of teaching the “Acting Up” drama workshops between 2002-2006 and created specifically for her classes as a way for her students to “relax and get present” at the start of each class.  All the students loved the exercises so much, they asked for copies on CD, which Sally happily provided.  Since then, there have been a few requests for copies, so Sally eventually bit the bullet and recorded and produced all three on CD, with an optional MP3 download so everyone could get hold of a copy and benefit from using the exercises – no matter what they do for a living.

As it says on the CD sleeve: “A collection of three guided relaxation visualization exercises for actors, designed to calm nerves, increase energy, help focus and remove tension. Created for use every day – not just for those in the acting profession but anyone who wants an instant “de-stress” to help them function at their optimum level at all times.”

And happy relaxing!

Incognita Design: The new Official Tommy Rando Website

Screenshot of Official Tommy Rando Website - design by incognita

Australian musician Tommy Rando came to Incognita to initially design his EP launch site in 2010. In May this year, he was ready to create his official site and again turned to Incognita as a designer. And we were delighted to work with Tommy again – not just because of his excellent taste in web designers ;) but also because we just love his music – which is a good thing as it was on constant repeat play while this site was being created (and we’re still running it through the office iTunes player – and still loving it!).

Tommy wanted a site that was clean, easy to access, providing information for fans, media and other interested parties. An important element was a music player that would play his latest EP “Signature” automatically once the site loaded – and then keep playing, uninterrupted, while the visitor clicked through each page. Normally with html programming, this is a challenge, but Incognita incorporated a Flash player that “remembered” where each track was from page to page – which then continuously played with only a slight pause between each page click – meaning the music was uninterrupted until the visitor clicked the stop button on the player themselves.

Social media also played an important part – the “Updates” page incorporates Tommy’s Twitter feed as the primary information source and links to all his social media profiles appear in the menu of each page. Using Tommy’s latest promo shot as inspiration for colours for the site – we ended up with a website that fulfilled the brief and showcases Tommy and his music via a professional, slick and informative web presence – that we had a ball designing!

“Thank you for your energy and efforts, Sal – you are wonderful.” – Tommy Rando

You can see the Official Tommy Rando Site (and hear his music for yourself) HERE.

Incognita Design revisits AlanFletcher.net

Alan Fletcher (best known as “Dr Karl Kennedy” on Australian TV series Neighbours, who has an acting CV longer than your arm in Australian, UK and US TV, film and theatre – and is an AFI Award nominee to boot!) has been a client of Incognita’s since 2001 and during that time his sites have gone through a number of changes and upgrades, as sites will do. So it was with great delight that Incognita took the brief from Alan that it was time to overhaul the entire site structure and look to make it more modern in tone, but simpler in use. This, of course, meant a lot more back-end programming to achieve this end – to help make things more automatic for visitors, as well as interactive, but it was a much needed reworking of the site and both Alan and Incognita were very pleased with the results.

Included in the update was the AlanFletcher.net Fanzone – a seperate site on the AlanFletcher.net domain, which is the primary information hub for fans, media and other interested parties. More videos and audio files were added, a gallery where fans can upload their favourite photos as well as view others already on the system, a fan forum, press articles, official photo galleries, voice tones for download, music tracks for download, e-newsletter sign up and a whole lot more were added and added to over the redesign phase, ending up with a site that is colourful and bright, as well as informative and – most of all – fun!

“Brilliant work Sal. Test drove everything and it all works beautifully and looks fantastic! I am loving your work! “- Alan Fletcher

News from FRANZ STAMPFL: THE MAN BEHIND THE MIRACLE MILE:

Franz Stampfl: The Man Behind The Miracle Mile ACF Promo Banner

We are delighted to announce that Director, Sally McLean, on behalf of Franz Stampfl: The Man Behind the Miracle Mile has been approved to be officially listed on the AbaF Australia Cultural Fund (ACF) register for fundraising purposes for the project.

What does this mean?

Essentially, this means that we can now raise money for the project via the ACF within Australia via donations from individuals and companies – AND – we can therefore offer you a tax deduction for your donation of $2 (two dollars) or more!

We have already raised $10,000 via the AbaF back in 2007, thanks to the wonderful generosity of a very supportive individual – which has enabled us to get the project to it’s current position – ie. ready to start shooting and editing. And so now the next stage begins …

So, how does this all work and who are the AbaF Australia Cultural Fund anyway?

The AbaF (Australian Business Arts Foundation) is a national organisation which connects the arts, business and donors. They work with businesses large and small, arts organisations of all types, individual artists, trusts and foundations. They provide advice, professional development, volunteering and networking opportunities.

The Australia Cultural Fund (ACF) is the AbaF’s free arts donation service and was established to encourage people to donate to the arts and to enable artists, including filmmakers, to benefit from this generosity. Artists and arts organisations can register to use the service which enables their donors to make tax deductible donations to the fund*.

Donations are paid in full as grants once approved by the AbaF Board. A total of more than $5 million has been donated to the arts through AbaF.

Artists and arts organisations apply to the Fund for consideration to be registered with the AbaF Australia Cultural Fund.  Once approved, they are listed on the ACF website and provided with both an online and PDF form for use to request donations for their project.

Sally McLean has been listed as an individual artist (filmmaker) for the project on the AbaF Australia Cultural Fund register.  All monies raised via the AbaF will go directly to the project.

  • To go straight to our online donation form, also on the AbaF website, click here.

NEW: Alice in Wonderland Grunge Leather Handbag

And now, a word from The Shakespeare Shoppe:
Alice In Wonderland Grunge Leather Handbag

Alice In Wonderland Grunge Leather Handbag

Okay, so not really Shakespeare-related in a direct sense, but in a literary/English/classic text sense … it qualifies for inclusion.  Really, it’s just because we really like this design and love these handbags – which is why this one features here, despite a somewhat tenuous link to our usual subject matter …

And we’re still a little bit obsessed with our Ebay store – where this Alice in Wonderland Grunge Leather Handbag has just been added, so that is the other reason why we’re blogging about  it.  With its grungy, almost goth-feeling image of Alice (taken from Sir John Tenniel’s original illustration) with the word “Alice” repeated behind her in a grungy, distressed font – we like the slightly darker take on the usual Alice in Wonderland theme.

Till next time …

Shakespeare Thine Own Self Be True Quote T-shirt

We love this tee (if we say so ourselves).  This great quality women’s dark t-shirt sporting the famous quote from Shakespeare’s Hamlet: “This above all: to thine own self be true” is currently proving to be highly popular here at The Shakespeare Shoppe – and it’s not just available on tees – you can get it on caps, mugs, pajamas and more!

Part of our “Carnivale Mask” collection of Shakespeare’s Quotes,  this is one of 17 designs currently available, with more on the way.  The t-shirt itself is a standard fit 100% cotton, preshrunk, durable and guaranteed and comes in four colors: black, red, Caribbean blue and violet.

As we said, we love it.  If you’ve loved it and bought it, feel free to let us know and send us some pics to share with others too!  We’d love to hear from you.
