Shakespeare Republic: Season Two Trailer

Synopsis

Shakespeare Republic is an award-winning collective of Australian-based actors who have come together to celebrate Shakespeare, his works and his enduring legacy, through sharing their interpretation of his words and thoughts, via settings and circumstances that are familiar to a 21st Century audience.

Using the medium of a web series, Shakespeare Republic is a journey through the works of William Shakespeare and his fellow Elizabethan and Jacobean playwrights, with the aim of rediscovering, reinvigorating and occasionally re-interpreting these universal observations in a modern setting, through the lens of current events and social issues of our time.

We assembled a cast of true Shakespeare enthusiasts mixed with first-timers to the world of the Bard for Season One including Alan Fletcher (Neighbours), Michala Banas (Upper Middle Bogan, Nowhere Boys), Rowena Hutson (Strong Female Character - Winner, 2015 Melbourne Fringe Festival Outstanding Comedy), Ben Steel (Home & Away, Winners & Losers), Billy Smedley (Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries) and series creator Sally McLean (Utopia, Upper Middle Bogan).

With Season One now officially selected for 30 international film festivals and the winner of 8 awards, Shakespeare Republic has returned to screens with Season Two of the web series (currently releasing), also staging our first live show to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death in December 2016.

Season Two features Michala Banas (Upper Middle Bogan), Stephen Costan, Alan Fletcher (Neighbours), Nadine Garner (The Doctor Blake Mysteries), Dean Haglund (The X-Files), Christopher Kirby (Iron Sky, Star Wars: Episode III), Sally McLean (Utopia), Tariro MavondoWahibe Moussa (Kick), Falon RyanShane Savage (Chris & Josh The Web Series), Billy Smedley (Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries) and Phoebe Anne Taylor.
